Un-Sorting

According to one source, babies develop an "urge to sort" at around 9 months. Disappointingly, I haven't yet caught Carson neatly arranging his stuffed animals by size and color. It seems that Carson's development is progressing in the opposite direction. He suffers from frequent urges to un-sort.

Ahh, mommy's craft supplies. He pulled that entire drawer out. And yes, I sat there and allowed him to do all of this. It was too cute to stop him... and I thoroughly enjoyed 20 very quiet minutes.

That video was awesome. Perfect music too. Sometimes I like to choose the "path of least resistance" too, just to have a few quiet minutes.

Sometimes it is TOTALLY worth having a huge mess to clean up...as long as they are happy for a period of time. Especially when they start to learn to clean it up themselves!!! And being able to communicate with Ryder is the greatest thing in the world! I'm sure Carson will be spitting out words like Os Coxa and Spirochete before you know it...you guys will have great conversations. :)

By the way, Carson makes it look like a lot of fun to dig through a pile of soft clothes, every now and again chewing on some object that slightly resembles food, wearing just a diaper. :) Way to sell it, Carson...I'd let you make that mess, too!

Oh yeah! Any chance that you and Carson will be taking a trip to VA for Gram's little birthday celebration???? Ryder and I are going with my mom...and I would LOVE to see you guys. Just wondering....

Yes, sometimes it's easier to just let them "explore" and have a little fun, and messes are just an inevitable part of having kids! Enjoy while you can! Ü

That's the cutest video ever! Good work!

Wow-that's some serious restraint to let that much organization fall apart:) I'm sure Carson totally thought it was worth it.

Oh hey, that first comment wasn't from Scott - didn't realize I was signed in to his account.

"Baby Carson's mess" is now Kate's favorite video. She's a little obsessed. :)
